Unfenced. Unreal.
Spectacular, unbeatable, phenomenal, beyond compare… just a few of the adjectives our guests have used to describe the skiing at the Durrand Glacier Area. If you could design the ultimate 96 square kilometers of ski mountaineering terrain from scratch you couldn't come up with a better design than that of this area. There are 3 large tree skiing areas with runs up to 3500 vertical feet. Eighty percent of the area is glaciated with over 35 alpine peaks and ski runs up to 5500 vertical feet. In addition to the "made in skiers heaven terrain" there is the snowfall. There are over 100 feet of annual snowfall in the Durrand area. Thanks to the way the weather comes in and the shapes and directions of the valley fanning out from the area it is a magnet for snowfall. On average the Durrand area gets 30% more snowfall than the surrounding areas including Rogers Pass. This results in an average snow -pack of over 4 metres (13 feet) at tree-line and over 6 metres in the alpine. The skiing is simply the best right from December to the end of May!
